The good news is . . . local opera mezzo soprano Juliet Curnow will take Cátia's place. Here Juliet sings 'Pie Jesu' (in Duruflé's 'Requiem' at Holy Trinity Exmouth Sat 5 Feb) |
However, at very short notice, the very talented local opera mezzo soprano, Juliet Curnow, has stepped in to take Cátia's place.
Juliet is a familiar figure in and around Exeter. Notably she was soloist in the Nelson Mass and Duruflé Requiem at Holy Trinity Church in Exmouth on 5th February this year. More recently Juliet was alto soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria Mass at Powderham Castle on Friday 25th February (details in the post for the 'Classical Journey' programme on Tuesday 1st March).
The B minor Mass promises to be a wonderful spectacle. Three other soloists are coming from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, together with the Exeter Bach Society Choir and an orchestra led by Anna Cockroft and conducted by Nicholas Marshall.
