EMG Symphony Orchestra’s spring concert in aid of the Alzheimer's Society and Singing for the Brain will take place on Thursday 14 April at 7.30pm in Exeter Cathedral. The orchestra, under the baton of Marion Wood, will be joined by the mezzo-soprano Alison Kettlewell for a performance of Elgar's evocative Sea Pictures. Alison and soprano Catherine Hamilton, along with the EMG Singers will then join the orchestra for Mahler's epic Symphony No 2 "Resurrection". The EMG Singers are a specially assembled chorus from across Devon and beyond. The group includes many members of leading local choirs and choral societies, as well as other experienced singers.

Singing for the Brain® is a stimulating, social activity designed to enhance wellbeing and bring fun and confidence to lives affected by memory problems. Hidden in the fun are activities which build on the well-known preserved memory for song and music in the brain. The aim is to reduce social isolation and depression, promoting friendships which lead to mutual aid.
