A Little More Information About Juliet Curnow, Mezzo Soprano

On finishing a four year undergraduate course in performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Juliet spent two years on the Opera Course.  During that time she sang the roles of Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Mere Marie (Les dialogues des Carmelites) and Ernestina (L’occasione fa il ladro).

After leaving college in 1995, Juliet joined English Touring Opera for whom she sang Rosina (Barber of Seville), Cenerentola and Maddalena (Rigoletto).  Since then her roles have included Rosina and Nicklaus/Muse (Tales of Hoffmann) with Central Festival Opera, Rosina and Nancy (Martha) with Castleward Opera, Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte) for Opera Holland Park and Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) with London City Opera.  She has also been a member of the chorus at Garsington, Glyndebourne and the Royal Opera.

Whilst no longer pursuing a solo operatic career, due to the demands of two young daughters, Juliet still accepts bookings for oratorio, recitals, weddings and other functions.  Her most recent engagements have included Haydn’s Nelson Mass & Durufle’s Requiem for Exmouth Choral Society, Vivaldi’s Gloria at Powderham Castle and Mozart’s Requiem in Exeter Cathedral.  She also teaches singing privately and at Exminster Primary School, and is a member of the respected Exeter based choir, Counterpoint.
