On Saturday 21 November EMG Symphony Orchestra returns to Exeter Cathedral with a feast of Russian music. The concert opens with newly appointed Associate Conductor, Tony Hindley, taking up the baton for Kabalevsky’s humorous Overture from Colas Breugnon. EMG Symphony Orchestra and Marion Wood are delighted to welcome back Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu, (who has recently been named as “one of 30 pianists under 30 destined for a spectacular career” in the International Piano Magazine) for Shostakovitch’s magical Piano Concerto No 2. The evening concludes with Rachmaninov’s epic Symphony No 2 in E Minor.
This concert is in aid of Neuroblastoma UK, a charity whose sole purpose is the relief of children suffering from neuroblastoma. To achieve this it raises funds for medical research into improving both diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
