Tom Poster
at Royal
Albert Memorial
Museum
On Wednesday 7th May 2014, Tom
Poster, an internationally recognised pianist of outstanding artistry and
versatility will be playing Schubert, Beethoven, Chopin and Ravel at the Royal
Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
Since his London concerto debut at the age
of 13, Tom Poster has appeared in a wide-ranging concerto repertoire of over 30
major works ranging from Bach to Ligeti, with orchestras and conductors including
the Aurora Orchestra/Nicholas Collon, BBC Philharmonic/Yan Pascal Tortelier,
BBC Scottish Symphony/James Loughran, European Union Chamber Orchestra,
Southbank Sinfonia/Vladimir Ashkenazy, China National Symphony/En Shao in
Beijing, Atlantic Classical Orchestra/Stewart Robertson in Florida, and the
State Capella Philharmonic in St Petersburg. He has also won many prizes
including First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition 2007, the
Ensemble Prize at the Honens International Piano Competition 2009, and the
keyboard sections of the Royal Over-Seas League and BBC Young Musician of the
Year Competitions in 2000.
The
programme will include Schubert’s Two Impromptus, D.899, Beethoven’s Sonata in D
major, Op. 28 “Pastoral”, Chopin’s Two Nocturnes Op.27 and Polonaise-Fantaisie
in A flat Major, Op.61. and finally Ravel’s "Pavane pour une Infante Défunte" and "La Valse".
Tickets are
restricted to 140 and artists play to this intimate audience in an atmospheric
gallery with the wonderful Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition
displayed.
The concert
will commence at 7.30pm. Museum doors open at 6.30pm. Drinks are available
prior to concert and during interval. Tickets cost £18 (concessions £16) each.
