Soundart Radio & Bicton College present Level 2 Students - on air 12.30-2pm Monday 31 March 2014

Lucinda Guy
presents her own programme
"Hildegard to Hildegard"
(Thursdays 2-4pm)
Lucinda Guy, Soundart Creative Director, has been working for many years to increase access to the airwaves for members of the public through the Totnes area community radio station, Soundart Radio. In 2013 she became involved in a new project funded by Bicton College, providing radio production training, to help facilitate involvement and inclusion.

In the first few months of its existence the new course has enabled a group of twelve students to work together to create three 30 minute pilot programmes. Collaborating in teams the students will bring together their work in field recording, editing, scripting and live broadcasting to present sound-montage and voice programmes, with music, covering three very different topics.

At noon on Sunday, the Soundart Studio Manager will clear the schedule and bring this exciting experiment to its fruition. Twelve students, working side by side in a 10'x10' studio - a very valuable learning experience for everyone!

Full details of the Soundart schedule,
and where the students fit in,

Easter Brass Course at Wellington School Somerset Brass Works - Brass Studio - Percussion Academy - Grade V Theory Monday-Thursday 14-17 April 2014 Booking deadline next Friday - Updated details from South West Music School

English Brass Academy
and South West Music School are once again teaming up to offer high quality training to musicians aged 8 - 21 in the form of the Easter Brass Course.

This year as well as the Brass Works and Brass Studio courses we are also running a Percussion Academy and a Grade 5 Music Theory at the same residential.

Based at Wellington School in Somerset, the 4-day course is set to be great fun as well as educational and culminates in a concert for family and friends.

Led by trumpet soloist Paul Archibald, the English Brass Academy team of distinguished performers and educators ensure the highest standard of tuition in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere. Please note that for all courses you are now able to drop in for a single day, should you not be able to commit to the full course.

Brass Works is for brass players aged 8-13 from beginner to grade 8 standard. This course contains small and large ensemble work, creative composition workshops, performance preparation and sports and activities.

Brass Studio is for brass players aged 14-17 & 18-21 who would like to take their playing to the next level. This course contains masterclasses, chamber music, orchestral excerpts, creative composition workshops, mock auditions, health and wellbeing an early music performance practice.

Percussion Academy is for percussionist aged 8-13 & 14-21. This course focuses on percussion ensembles, brass group repertoire and sectional skills development including work on timpani, tuned percussion, snare drum, drum kit and latin percussion. There will also be options for individual coaching together with masterclasses from the tutors.

Grade 5 Music Theory Julie Edwards, Director of Music at Beechwood Park School, delivers fun-filled lessons using her own specially-devised material culminating in a theory examination at the end of the course. Grade 5 theory can be a bit of a chore, but not with this exciting week of music and music theory.

Dates: Monday 14th - Thursday 17th April 2014 at Wellington School, Somerset

Residential Course - £400
Non-Residential Course - £280
Drop in Day place - £65
