The Killerton Chapel Concert Series gets under way!

National Trust Press Release

Killerton Chapel - to be the venue of a series of outstanding - and free - choral concerts!

Killerton chapel showcases local choirs this summer

The much celebrated chapel at Killerton, near Exeter, will provide a stunning setting for what promises to be a fabulous series of visiting choirs this summer. Not only will this be a great chance to hear some of the finest local choirs around, it will also provide a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the often hidden gem that is Killerton’s beautiful Victorian chapel.

The concerts will take place on the second Saturday of each month from 11am-12.15, and will be preceded by coffee and refreshments.

The wonderful “Global Harmony” will be the first choir visit this week (Saturday 11 June), and are sure to get the summer of choral delight off to a great start.

Denise Melhuish, Killerton’s Assistant Property Manager said, “Global Harmony are a brilliant local Devon choir who sing a wide range of unaccompanied harmony songs from all over the world. In particular they enjoy performing rhythms from Africa, but they are also known for their stirring songs and harmonies from the Southern Seas and the Americas, soulful gospel and blues to name but a few - as well as traditional folk, and rock and pop from our own culture.”

Visitors can enter for free to enjoy music in the chapel and there will be a collection in aid of ‘Water Aid’, a charity raising money to improve water quality in Africa. For full details visit nationaltrust.org.uk/killerton or call 01392 881345.
