Delta Saphone Quartet: Two Concerts in Devon Gidleigh & Exeter Fri/Sat 1st & 2nd November 2013 Message from Chris Caldwell

Delta Sax Quartet 1983-2013
30th birthday party celebrations
Gidleigh Village Hall
1st November 2013

One of Europe's most distinguished music ensembles is coming to a village hall near you! . . .

As part of the Delta Sax Quartet's 30th anniversary season it commissioned one of the the UK's most exciting and respected composers (Mark-Anthony Turnage) to compose a new work 'run riot' for the quartet which received it's première at the Holt Festival in July 2013 . . .

Part of the remit for this commission (supported by Arts Council England/Holt Festival/Music on the Edge) was to tour this new work 'outside' of London and the SE giving the regional areas of the UK the opportunity to say 'we heard it first!' . . .

Chris Caldwell (baritone saxophonist in the quartet and part of Music on the edge) is an original member of the Delta quartet and lives locally. He's always wanted to bring the quartet to the South West and with the Arts Council touring support this will now be realised.
