On Saturday 1 April join EMG Symphony Orchestra and new Musical Director Leo Geyer at Exeter Cathedral for an exuberant. sparkling evening of music inspired by jazz and Latin rhythms. This concert is the first step in an exciting year for EMG as the orchestra marks its 50th anniversary, and promises to be an evening not to be missed!
The concert opens with Mexican composer Arturo Marquez’s popular Danzon No. 2, followed by George Gershwin’s evocative symphonic poem An American in Paris, depicting 1920s Paris, complete with taxi horns! The second half starts with the premiere of Leo’s new work, Aruanda, inspired by Latin jazz, and the final work of the evening is Leonard Bernstein’s dramatic Symphonic Dances from Westside Story.
